References:  The Smithsonian NAA Print Collection - John Alvin Anderson - Anderson was born in Sweden in 1869. After emigrating to the U.S. with his family, he traveled to Nebraska in the mid-1880s. With savings from his wages as a carpenter, he purchased his first camera. For nearly forty years between 1885 and the early 1930's, Anderson photographed among the Sioux and documented their daily lives. The John Alvin Anderson portfolio contains rare shots of He Dog and Turning Bear, Sioux leaders who were later subjects of the photographer's portrait series.

Condition Statement: The print and frame are in FINE condition.
