Fait by Sophie Ristelhueber
Errata Books Edition, 2008
Signed and dated by Sophie Ristelhueber
MINT Condition
This is a very rare Sophie Ristelhueber signed edition of “Fait” published by errata editions, New York in 2008. The first edition of Fait was originally published in 1992 and to my knowledge there are no copies of this book currently available for sale anywhere. The publisher provides a wonderful summary, “Sophie Ristelhueber's Fait, which in French means 'fact' or 'what was done,' remains one of the most powerful statements about the aftermath of war. In October of 1991, Ristelhueber photographed the battle-scarred landscape of Kuwait following the end of the first Gulf war with Iraq. Books on Books 3 presents all 71 black and white and color photographs as seen in the original artist book as it was conceived and designed by Ristelhueber. Marc Meyer of the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal contributes an essay that discusses Ristelhueber's disturbing yet beautiful achievement.”
Measuring 7” x 9.5” and containing 89 four color illustrations, the book is bound in black linen and comes with the original belly band. The book and bellyband are in MINT condition.
The book has been boldly signed and dated, Paris, Nov 08, by Sophie Ristelhueber on the title page. Just as there are currently no first editions of “Fait” on the market, there are no other signed editions of the Errata book available for sale in the marketplace making this an extremely scarce collectible.
