This is a first edition, first printing of the Sternfeld’s highly acclaimed photobook “American Prospects” published by Times Books in association with the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston in 1987. Parr & Badger in their book, “The Photobook: A History” write, “Sternfeld has produced his first and best know book, “American Prospects”…a cogent and persuasive view of America, told with affection but also conveying the feeling that something is not quite right”. Vince Aletti in “The Book of 101 Books: Seminal Photographic Books of the Twentieth Century” adds, “American Prospects brought a new respect for color photography and a deeper understanding of American complexity”.

Containing 55 striking color photographs and measuring approximately 10.5” x 12”, the book is bound in gray cloth covered boards with a color photographically illustrated dust jacket. The book is in FINE condition and the dust jacket is in FINE- condition with a very small corner crease and very superficial edge wear.
