Tokyo Lucky Hole by Nobuyoshi Araki
First Edition, First Printing, 1990
FINE Condition with OBI
This is a first edition, first printing of Araki’s controversial and critically acclaimed photobook “Tokyo Lucky Hole” published by Ota Shuppan in 1990. The book is Araki’s record of the red-light district of Kabuki-cho in Shinjuku when it was at its most lively, before the enforcement of a new law regulating adult entertainment businesses in 1985 that is prominently mentioned in the Parr and Badger reference book, “The Photobook: A History” including being pictured on the dust jacket. They state in the book, “Tokyo Lucky Hole is one of Araki's best-known and most controversial books… "As usual, Araki's view is that of the voracious photographer who cannot stop clicking, even when participating in the 'action himself...Even more than in his other books, he is gleefully unrestrained, the perpetual tumescent adolescent, a kid in a candy store."
Measuring approximately 8” x 5”, the book is bound in stiff wrappers with an illustrated dust jacket and OBI. The condition of the book, dust jacket and OBI are FINE. This is a great opportunity to obtain a highly collectible photobook rarely found in such exceptional condition.
