Published from 1976 through 1980 by the Franklin Library, the First Edition Series contracted with leading publishing houses to produce limited first editions of some of the finest books written during that period. Besides being beautiful leather bound books, they are the true first edition, first printings of some very significant works. The editor of this series was John R. Hawkins. A large majority of the titles in this collection are available as author signed and inscribed books that can be viewed under the product category “J.R. Hawkins Collection”. This is a great opportunity to own the collection at a fraction of the cost of those editions.
The books feature the usual Franklin Library fineries of full leather covers, gold gilding and gilting, silk moiré endpapers and matching satin bookmarks. I have classified the condition of the collection as Near Fine. The books are in excellent condition with no bookplates or internal markings of any kind. Some of the books have gilt marks and shelf wear. Although this is not a pristine set, the collection looks wonderful on the shelf and will make a great addition to your home library.
