This is a beautiful 16 volume leather bound Heirloom Edition of “History of America” published by the Easton Press. Covering more than 300 years of history from the Pilgrims' landing to the New Deal, Page Smith's monumental 8,000-page epic is the most comprehensive history of the United States ever written.  The Chicago Sun-Times called the work "amazing in its sweep and scope," and described Page Smith as "one of the master historians of the 20th century." Each book measures approximately 9.5” x 6.5” and contains numerous illustrations and maps as well as the usual Easton Press fineries including:

• hubbed spine, bound in premium full leathers
• distinctive cover design, beautiful illustrations
• handsome, readable typefaces, permanent satin ribbon page marker
• elegant gilded page edges, endsheets of rich moire fabric
• thread-sewn pages for durability and strength, long-lasting high quality, acid-neutral paper

There are a total of 16 volumes in the collection. They are:

Vol. I - IV:       A New Age Now Begins: The American Revolution (1832 pages).

Vol. V - VI:     The Shaping of America: The Young Republic (868 pages).

Vol. VII-VIII:    The Nation Comes of Age: The Ante-Bellum Years (1231 pages).

Vol. IX - X:    Trial by Fire: The Civil War and Reconstruction (1038 pages).

Vol. XI - XII:   The Rise of Industrial America: The Post-Reconstruction Era (965 pages).

Vol. XIII-XIV:  America Enters the World: The Progressive Era and World War I (1089 pages).

Vol. XV - XVI: Redeeming Time: The 1920's and The New Deal (1205 pages).

The condition of the set is FINE with four of the volumes still in the original publisher’s shrinkwrap. A few of the volumes have very, very superficial marks to the gilt with the only notable flaws being a scratch to the side gilt of Volume 1 and a rub to the front cover of Volume 2. The books are in excellent condition and appear to have never been read. There are no bookplates, markings, or any other signs of previous ownership. This is a wonderful opportunity to obtain a beautiful collection of one of the all time great literary works that is complete and in fantastic condition.
