Charles Scribner’s & Sons has been responsible for publishing some of the finest works ever written. In the 1980’s, they reissued a group of their classic titles in a deluxe numbered limited edition with a very small limitation. These books have become highly collectible. “The Yearling” by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings was issued with a limitation of 350 copies this being number 124. This is a facsimile of the 1939 edition. The book features 14 beautiful illustrations by N.C. Wyeth as well as double page illustrations to the front and rear endpapers. The production value of the edition is fantastic and includes the following:
· Cloth Cover with Illustrated Pastedown on Cover and Endpapers
· Gilt Lettering on the Spine
· Matching Cloth Slipcase
· Glassine Dust Jacket
· Sewn in Satin Place Marker
· Gold Gilting on Top Page Edges
The book, glassine dust jacket, and slip case are all in FINE condition. The glassine dust jacket has some toning to the spine which is common to this series. Overall, this is an exceptional copy of a beautifully produced limited edition of one of the literary classics.
