Published between 1974 and 1982, this is an incredible collection of the greatest literary works by American authors that were selected by America’s Universities under the auspices of the American Revolution Bicentennial Administration. From the publisher, “These are the books that have shaped the cultural heritage of our nation – that have made American literature admired and respected throughout the world. More important, these are the works that will remain the cornerstones of our culture for centuries to come. For these literary masterpieces have no equal. They represent the greatness of America.” These books feature all the usual Franklin Library fineries including full leather covers, silk moire endpapers, gold gilding and gilting, and satin bookmarks.
