In these times of mediocre or non-existent customer service, I am impressed with your commitment to providing an excellent customer experience.

New-York, Henri-Cartier Bresson Signed First Edition

SKU: bresny

New-York by Daniel Wronecki and Henri Cartier-Bresson

First Edition, First Printing, 1949

Signed by Henri Cartier-Bresson

Exceptional Condition

This is a very scarce signed first edition, first printing of “New-York” published by Fernand Nathan, Paris in 1949. Photo-Eye provided an excellent summary of the book, “Published three years before “The Decisive Moment”, this celebration of New York features 64 of Cartier-Bresson's photographs of the Big Apple (along with 19 by Wronecki and 44 by others). Together the images presented here are the quintessential outsiders' view of the city; a side by side comparison with the work of Helen Levitt or William Klein would be incredibly revealing.”

Containing over 100 gravures with captions (French text) and measuring approximately 9.5” x 6.5”, the book is bound in stiff wrappers with a photographically illustrated dust jacket. The book and dust jacket are in FINE- condition with the most minimal of shelf wear and some small closed tears (please see photo 3 below) to the top of text pages and signature page as well as to the top edge of the dust jacket.

The book has been boldly signed in pen by Henri Cartier-Bresson on the first free endpaper. This is an incredible opportunity to obtain a signed copy of one of Cartier-Bresson’s earliest works that is extremely scarce (this is the only available signed copy on the market) that is in fantastic condition.

Photographs of the dust jacket cover, the signature, and photographs contained in the book appear below. Please note that although the images may appear digitized you can click on any of images to get an enlargement that can also been viewed as a slideshow.
