The John R. Hawkins Collection
A God Against The Gods by Allen Drury
Limited First Edition, First Printing, 1976
Franklin Library
Inscribed and Signed by Allen Drury
John R. Hawkins was the editor of the First Edition Division of the Franklin Library. During his tenure as editor, he was responsible for working with the various authors who participated in their publishing program. “A God Against the Gods” was one of the “limited first editions” he edited. The inscription on the 2nd free endpaper reads, “To John R. Hawkins with many thanks for his fine work in bringing this special edition of A God Against the Gods to beautiful fruition – Cordially, Signed by Allen Drury”.
This is a very rare book. Since the limited first editions were issued unsigned, it is rare to find one that is author signed. This edition is not only author signed but inscribed. The book features the usual Franklin Library fineries of a full leather cover, gold gilding and gilting, silk moiré endpapers and a matching satin bookmark. I am classifying the book as Fine with only very minor shelfwear to the bottom leather edges.
At the bottom of this listing are photographs of the book and inscription.
