The John R. Hawkins Collection
Creek Mary’s Blood by Dee Brown
Limited First Edition, First Printing, 1980
Franklin Library
Inscribed and Signed by Dee Brown
John R. Hawkins was the editor of the First Edition Division of the Franklin Library. During his tenure as editor, he was responsible for working with the various authors who participated in their publishing program. “Creek Mary’s Blood” was one of the “limited first editions” he edited. The inscription on the limitation page reads, “To John R. Hawkins – in appreciation of his contributions to the art of the well-made book – Sincerely,
Signed by Dee Brown, 1980.”
This is a very rare book. Since the limited first editions were issued unsigned, it is rare to find one that is author signed. This edition is not only author signed but inscribed. The book features the usual Franklin Library fineries of a full leather cover, gold gilding and gilting, silk moiré endpapers and a matching satin bookmark. I am classifying the book as Near Fine + with only the slightest of shelfwear.
At the bottom of this listing are photographs of the book and inscription.
