This is a beautiful limited edition reproduction of the monumental 1875 book "Le Corbeau" (The Raven) published by the Easton Press in association with the Library of Congress in 1995 to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of its publication. The limitation of the book is 240 copies with this being number 65. “Le Corbeau” is generally considered the first modern illustrated book and is one of the rarest and most sought-after Modern Illustrated Books. Few copies are available because most of the edition is now in museums and large libraries such as The New York Public Library.
Measuring 21.25” x 14.25”, the book is bound in quarter leather with patterned boards. Included with this book is a small brochure put out by The Library of Congress and The Easton Press that tells about the history of the book. The book is printed in French and English. The condition of the book is Near FINE+ with very minimal shelf wear. The cover shows a little wear on the corners.
