Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe

Art by Griff Jones

Signed Limited Edition – 75 of 150

FINE Condition

This is a signed limited edition of “Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe” published by Micawber Fine Editions in 1999 with a limitation of 150 copies this being number 75. From the publisher, “In 1841, Poe began working for a man named George Graham, who offered him $800 a year to work as an editor. While at Graham's, Poe was preparing his famous work, The Murders in the Rue Morgue, for publication. Published in April 1841, this story featured Auguste C. Dupin, the first-ever fictional detective. Poe's "tale of rationation," as he termed it, inaugurated one of the most popular and entertaining forms of fiction ever conceived. It was during these years in Philadelphia that Poe published such trademark horror tales as The Tell-Tale Heart, and The Pit and The Pendulum. It wasn't until the 1845 publication of Poe's famous poem The Raven that he achieved the true rise to fame that had been denied him until then. The public's reaction to the poem brought Poe to a new level of recognition and "could be compared to that of some uproariously successful hit song today."

Containing 13 full color illustrations by award winning Denver artist Griff Jones, the book contains Poe’s works The Black Cat, The Cask of Amontillado, The Gold Bug, Ligeia, The Red Death, Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Raven, and The Pit and the Pendulum among others. Measuring 10.5” x 7.5”, the book is bound in white leather (leather like?) boards with a full-color illustration mounted on the upper board and is housed in a matching slipcase. The book has been signed by Griff Jones (the artist) and Robert Dean (author if the afterword) on the limitation page.

The book and the slipcase are in FINE condition with very minor rubbing to the slipcase.

Photographs of the slipcase, the book cover, and the limitation page appear below. Although the pictures may appear digitized as thumbnails, you can view them in the photo viewer by clicking the thumbnail.
