M.C. Escher: The Graphic Work
Easton Press Deluxe Leather Bound Edition
MINT Condition – Still in the Publisher’s Shrinkwrap
This is a beautiful oversized leather bound edition of “M.C. Escher” published by the Easton Press in conjunction with Taschen. From the publisher, “Graphic Work presents 76 of Escher's most interesting pictures selected by the artist himself. It includes Escher's commentaries on his work, which make his startling visual effects more easy to interpret. The book also features Escher's own account of his evolution as an artist. An authentic source book of high significance, it offers the best introduction to the fantastic universe of the grand master of illusion.
Escher is best known for his exploration of the boundaries between art and reality ("Drawing Hands", "Reptiles", "Print Gallery"), and for his distortion of everday objects and mathematical experimentation with geometric shapes, patterns and perspectives (too many of his paintings to number). His best and most characteristic works, including "Depth" (1955), "Stars" (1948), and (naturally), "Other World" (1946) are highly imaginative, creating a fantastic and indescribable dream-universe all their own, one which must ultimately be experienced in order to be fully appreciated.”
The book measures approximately 12” x 9” with 95 pages and features the usual Easton Press fineries including:
· hubbed spine, bound in premium full leathers
· distinctive cover design, beautiful illustrations
· handsome, readable typefaces, permanent satin ribbon page marker
· elegant gilded page edges, endsheets of rich silk moire fabric
· thread-sewn pages for durability and strength, long-lasting high quality, acid-neutral paper
The book is in MINT condition and is still in the publisher’s shrinkwrap.
