Ulysses by James Joyce

Leather Bound Limited Edition, 1490 of 1750

Etchings by Mimmo Paladino

Folio Society, 2004

FINE Condition

This is a leather bound limited edition of “Ulysses” by James Joyce published by the Folio Society on June 16, 2004 to mark the centenary of the day on which the action of the book is set. This facsimile reproduction of the 1926 second edition, with badly broken characters corrected and blemished deleted, contains 18 full page reproductions of Mimmo Paladino’s etchings for Ulysses. The preface to the book was written by Stephen James Joyce and the introduction is by Jacques Aubert.

Measuring 12" x 9.75" and containing 735 pages, the book is bound in full blue goatskin covered boards with a cover design by Jeff Clements. The upper edges are gold gilt and a cloth page divider is attached to the head of the spine. The book is housed in a buckram clamshell solander box that serves to protect and display the volume.

The limitation on the book is 1750 copies with this being number 1490. This is a beautiful production of arguably the greatest book of English literature written in the twentieth century.

The book is in FINE condition. The clamshell box is in FINE- condition with a small bump to the upper edge. Please note that a stock photograph is used for the listing photo.

Franklin Books Guide to Condition Descriptions

We realize that buying books online is difficult because you don't have the luxury of actually seeing the book before you make your decision. At Franklin Books, we strive to make your purchases as risk-free as possible. We follow four basic rules:

  1. We grade our books conservatively;
  2. We describe our books as extensively and accurately as possible;
  3. We pack our books tightly and securely for shipping.
  4. If you feel a book does not match our description, it is returnable for a full refund.

The following are the terms used to describe our books:

Mint - As New: The book is in the same immaculate condition as when it was published and most likely will be in the original publisher's shipping box or shrink wrap.

Fine: Normally, our highest rating. A Fine book approaches the condition of As New. Any superficial/minor fault will always be noted.

Near Fine: A book approaching FINE with minor defects which will always be noted.

Very Good: A book that shows some signs of wear on either the binding or paper. The defects will always be noted.

Good: Describes the average used worn book that has all pages or leaves present. All defects will be noted. We rarely ever list a book in Good condition unless it is of sufficient rarity to be the best available on the market.

Fair/Poor: Describes a book that has major flaws. This copy may be soiled, scuffed, stained or spotted and may have loose joints, hinges or pages. We do not sell books that are in Fair/Poor condition.

If you ever have any questions about the condition of a book, we strongly encourage you to call or email us and we will be happy to pull the book and provide you with any information you need to make an intelligent decision on your purchase.
