First published in 1667, Milton’s awe-inspiring, epic poem is considered by many to be the greatest in the English language. Incorporating elements from classical literature and, most notably, the Bible, Paradise Lost recreates the fall of Adam and Eve, bringing to life a moving quest for redemption in the fact of despair. It stands as one of the great pillars of Western culture.
