The History of England by Lord Macaulay

10 Volumes – Complete Collection

Easton Press

MINT Condition – Still in Publisher’s Shrinkwrap

This is a beautiful 10 volume leather bound Heirloom Edition of “The History of England” published by the Easton Press. The “History of England” is famous for its brilliant ringing prose and for its confident, sometimes dogmatic, emphasis on a progressive model of British history, according to which the country threw off superstition, autocracy and confusion to create a balanced constitution and a forward-looking culture combined with freedom of belief and expression. This model of human progress has been called the Whig Interpretation of History. “The History of England” has been described as “The first historical work deliberately designed to outsell the best-selling novel of the day”.

Each book measures approximately 9.5” x 5.5” and contains numerous illustrations and color frontispieces as well as the usual Easton Press fineries including:

  • hubbed spine, bound in premium full leathers
  • distinctive cover design, beautiful illustrations
  • handsome, readable typefaces, permanent satin ribbon page marker
  • elegant gilded page edges, endsheets of rich moire fabric
  • thread-sewn pages for durability and strength, long-lasting high quality, acid-neutral paper

The collection is in MINT condition and still in the publisher’s shrinkwrap. Please note that the photograph used in the listing is a stock photograph.
