This is a beautiful leather bound facsimile of the critically acclaimed “Hansel and Gretel and Other Stories” published by Hodder and Stoughton in 1983 and printed and bound in England. Originally published in 1925, the book features 22 of the Grimm Fairy Tales and the incredible illustrations of Kay Nielsen that are considered by many to be among his finest works.
Measuring 10.5" x 9" with 12 tipped-in color plates including the frontispiece all protected by descriptive tissue guards and 10 black-and-white illustrations, the book is beautifully bound in full leather with pictorial cover and spine by Kay Nielsen in gold and turquoise, gold gilted pages ends, silk moiré endpapers, and built in satin bookmark.
The book is in FINE- condition with marks to the side gilt and a very slightly bowed back board. Overall, this is an exceptional copy of a beautifully produced edition of one of the great classics.
