This is beautiful leather bound facsimile of the critically acclaimed “The Water Babies” published by Hodder and Stoughton in 1982 and printed and bound in England. Originally published in 1919, the book features the incredible illustrations of Jessie Willcox Smith that are considered by many to be among her finest works.

Measuring 10.5" x 9" with 12 tipped-in color plates including the frontispiece all protected by descriptive tissue guards plus many smaller green text illustrations, the book is beautifully bound in full leather with gilt titles and pictorial decoration, gold gilted pages ends, silk moiré endpapers, and built in satin bookmark.

The book is in FINE- condition with rubs to the top tips and a very slightly bowed back board. Overall, this is an exceptional copy of a beautifully produced edition of one of the great classics.
