Details
Oliphant’s classic studies of Florence and Venice. Comprehensive surveys of the histories of the great Italian cities and their rich artistic and cultural legacies. The Florence volume is subtitled: Dante, Giotto, Savonarola, and Their City. The Venice volume is subtitled: Doges, Conquerors, Painters, and Men of Letters. First published in 1876 and 1887, respectively. Both volumes in this set with frontispiece portraits and numerous b&w illustrations, both in the text and full-page. A beautiful, decorative set from the Victorian era. Matched sets of these two titles are not common, especially in such nice bindings, since they were originally published in different decades.

Venice: 410 pages.
