Rare and well preserved antiquarian edition, offering a comprehensive reference to painters and engravers throughout history. This is the revised and enlarged edition of the original editions which were published between 1813 and 1816 and were considered the standard reference work for painters and engravers throughout the nineteenth century. Each book measures 11” x 8.5” and contain numerous illustrations of the works of the listed artists. This is a large, heavy set.
Condition Report
All five volumes display tight bindings and secure & undamaged hinges. Mild age wear with rubbing to extremities; leather remains whole. Internally complete and clean, with uniform toning to pages. Text is accompanied by numerous full-page plates.
