True first edition of Samuel Butler’s classic novel. Laid into the book is a receipt from the bookseller, Bertram Rota, London dated August 24th, 1938. The receipt explains that the book was rebound without the advertisement leave in the back which was a common practice that does not normally lessen the value of a rebound book. Measures 7.5” x 5”
Condition Report
The volume has a tight binding and secure & undamaged hinges. The leather remains whole and supple with very minor rubbing. Internally complete and clean. Overall, a beautiful leather bound copy of Butler’s most important novel.
