This is a matching leather bound deluxe edition of the critically acclaimed “A History of the Crusades” published by the Easton Press. From the publisher, “"...true stories of bravery and cowardice, rash daring and wily intrigue. Heralded as a great classic of historical writing, this stunning leather-bound set is a definitive and comprehensive history of the Crusades, from their birth in the 11th century to their decline in the 14th. Sir Steven Runciman, one of the world's most distinguished historians, brings the reader into the midst of the historical action through his engaging and compelling narrative. Each volume is enhanced by a series of illustrations and relevant, detailed maps that further bring the history to life.”

In their review of the book, the Washington Post wrote, "One of the grand historical monuments of the twentieth century ... Written with imagination and based on immense scholarship, (the volumes) are filled with true stories of rash daring and wily intrigue as the flower of Western knighthood assaults the infidel East for God, gold and glory."

The three books in the set are:

Volume I - The First Crusade and the Foundation of the Kingdom of Jerusalem

Volume II - The Kingdom of Jerusalem and the Frankish East 1100-1187

Volume III - The Kingdom of Acre and the Later Crusades

Each of the books in this deluxe edition measures 9” x 6.25” and features the usual Easton Press fineries of premium leather covers, marbled endpapers, gold gilding and gilting, and a built in satin bookmarks.

The books are in MINT condition and still in the original publisher’s shrinkwrap.
