Beautiful antiquarian collection of the complete novels of Sir Walter Scott. Waverly was Scott's first venture into prose fiction, anonymously published in 1814, and is often regarded as the first historical novel. Scott's later novels were advertised as being "by the author of Waverley". Scott’s novels including Ivanhoe, Rob Roy, the Pirate, and many others are considered some of the finest works ever written.
The novels in the collection are: Guy Mannering or the Astrologer, The Antiquary, Rob Roy, Old Mortality, The Heart of Mid-Lothian, A Legend of Montrose, The Bride of Lammermoor, Ivanhoe, The Abbott, Kenilworth, The Pirate, The Fortunes of Nigel, Peveril of the Peak, Quentin Durward, Redgauntlet, The Betrothed: A Tale of the Crusaders, The Fair Maid of Perth, Anne of Geierstein, Count Robert of Paris, Castle Dangerous, Chronicles of the Canongate: The Two Drovers, My Aunt Margaret's Mirror, The Tapestried Chamber, and Death of the Laird's Jock, St. Ronan's Well, The Monastery, The Talisman: A Tale of the Crusaders, Woodstock, Waverly or the Sixty Years Since.
