FINE Condition

This is very rare children’s book illustrated by Walter Crane entitled, “Goody Two Shoes Picture Book” published by Dodd, Mead and Company, New York.  Although undated, the book was probably published shortly after the Routledge, London first edition in 1880. The book contains three stories, “Goody Two Shoes”, “Aladdin”, and “The Yellow Dwarf” with each illustrated by Walter Crane who is considered by many to be the most prolific and influential children’s book creator of his generation.

Measuring 11" x 9", the book is bound in cloth covered boards with a Walter Crane illustration on the front cover. The endpapers are decorated in grey-blue and white as are the 2 page illustrations before and after “Aladdin”. “Goody Two Shoes” and “Aladdin are illustrated in bright saturated colors and each has a 2 page illustration and 4 full page illustrations. “The Yellow Dwarf” has a two page illustration and 3 color plates. All plates are present.

The book is in FINE condition with the most minimal of fading to spine. Internally, the book is in FINE condition. Overall, this is an exceptional copy of a very rare Crane illustrated title that is a wonderful example of his extraordinary talent. Currently, there are no other copies available in the market.
