The Perfect Childhood by Larry Clark
Scalo Edition, 1995
Signed by Larry Clark
Fine Condition
This is a signed first American edition of “The Perfect Childhood” published by Scalo, Zurich in 1995. The true first edition published in 1993, as well as the 1995 Scalo edition were banned in the United States and quickly sold out in Europe. The most controversial section of the book is a formal exercise in obsessive repetition: A twenty-page fellatio sequence involving an underage, angelic-looking boy (who appeared in "Teenage Lust" as a "runaway") and an older prostitute. Each shot looks the same as the one before and the one after it, but upon closer examination, reveals its particular nuances. Profusely illustrated with 110 four-color and 48 duotone plates, the book includes Clark's controversial black and white photographs from the "Tulsa" and Teenage Lust" work, as well as previously unpublished color and black and white images.
Measuring approximately 11” by 9”, the book is bound in paper covered boards in a photographically illustrated dust jacket. Both the book and dust jacket are in FINE condition.
The book is boldly signed by Larry Clark on the first free endpaper.
