Binding Details: Fine contemporary full morocco leather binding with raised bands to the spine with gilt lines, titles, and central motif to the panel, and the publication date in gold gilt. Gilt ruling to the boards, marbled endpapers, and hand-sewn silk endbands. The page edges are gold gilted.
Book Details: This is the first edition, first printing, as stated on the copyright page, of Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” published by Random House, New York in 1957. The book is her fourth, longest, and last novel and she considered it her magnums opus in the realm of fiction writing. In 1999, the Modern Library reader’s poll ranked Atlas Shrugged number 1 on its list of the 100 Best English- Language novels of the 20th Century.
The book measures 8.5” x 6” x 2.25” with 1168 pages and a two page “About the Author” write-up from the publisher.
Condition Report: The binding is in FINE condition with very superficial surface wear and some marks to the gold gilted page ends. Internally, the book is very clean with no marks or foxing. The previous owner hand written name and address appears on the 3rd free endpaper. Overall, this is a full leather custom binding that houses the true first edition of one of the great works of literature.
