Unique Prize Winning Leather Binding by Chris Hicks
Binding Details: Unique leather binding by Chris Hicks of snakeskin and morocco leather that features an outline of the figure of Holly Golightly that is comprised of silver metal foil, embroidery, and a simulated diamond belt with the books title embossed in silver foil. There are marbled endpapers and pastedowns as well as hand-sewn silk head and tail bands. Chris Hicks binding sticker appears at the bottom of the first free endpaper.
The book is housed in a matching snakeskin purse that features chrome accents, a clasp with diamond-like stones, and a chrome finished metal strap.
The Shepherds Falkiner Prize was awarded to Chris Hicks in the 2014 Designer Bookbinders annual competition for his binding of Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Chris Hicks celebrated his 50th year as a bookbinder in 2013. He is widely considered one of the premier bookbinders in the world and has been the recipient of numerous awards from competitions organized by the Society of Bookbinders, the Designer Bookbinders Society, and the National Library of Scotland. He continues to create incredible unique bindings from his studio in Castle Cary, Somerset, England.
