Eikoh Hosoe: Untitled 42

Signed and Inscribed by Eikoh Hosoe to Ralph Gibson

Published by The Friends of Photography in 1986

Near FINE Condition

Details:  Published by The Friends of Photography in 1986, the book is an excellent overview of the famous Japanese photographer's major projects including Man and Woman, Barakei, Kamaitachi, and Embrace. Ronald Hill in his afterword writes, “For Hosoe, the flesh comes first, but he knows that its potential is most evident in a place that accommodates and accepts the flesh on its own terms. He tries to create such places for flesh in the world of his art--in places and photographs in which one not only sees the flesh, not only feels its warmth, but also senses the light that connects the body to the supreme and highest realms.”

The book is bound in bound in photographically illustrated wrappers and measures 7.5” x 10.75”.

Signature:  The book is inscribed, signed, and dated in Kanji by Eikoh Hosoe to photographer Ralph Gibson on the first free endpaper with Ralph Gibson’s “ex-libris” stamp appearing on the Acknowledgements page.

Condition Report:  The book is in Near FINE condition with minor rubs to the wrapper extremities. Internally, the book is very clean with minor corner creases.

Photographs of the front and rear cover, signature treatment, and Ralph Gibson “ex-libris” stamp appear in the photo section of the listing.
