Book Details: First published in 1816, Emma is one of the six novels written by Jane Austen. As Alix Wilber wrote in his review, “Of all Jane Austen's heroines, Emma Woodhouse is the most flawed, the most infuriating, and, in the end, the most endearing.” This edition was published in 1954 and is a reprint of the 1816 edition and features 16 beautiful color illustrations by Charles E. Brock.
The book measures 7.5” x 5”, 427 pages.
Condition Report: The binding is in FINE condition. Internally, there is a single tiny brown spot to the right hand edge of the title page (just visible in photo) but otherwise the book is virtually pristine. There are no signs of previous ownership. Overall, this is a beautiful binding that houses one of Austen’s most popular novels coupled with the wonderful illustrations of Charles E. Brock.
Photographs of the binding, endpapers, binder’s card, and some examples of the contents from the book appear in the photo section of the listing.
