Details: Victorian "Finger Prayer Book" housed in a pierced and repousse miniature silver slipcase by David & Lionel Spiers, Birmingham, England. Hallmarked 1890, the silver case measures 3.5” x 1.25” x .25” and weighs 61 grams. “The Book of Common Prayer” contains 599 pages and is bound in the publisher’s original limp red morocco leather with the title in gold gilt on the front cover and all page edges gold gilted. The hallmark on the miniature silver slipcase is 1890. The book is undated but is referenced by L. W. Bondy: Miniature Books, p.132 as being circa 1890..
Condition Report: The silver case is in FINE- condition with minor surface wear. The book is in Very Good condition with a sound and secure binding that has some discoloration to the leather near the bottom of the front and rear covers as well as some minor rubbing to the extremities. Internally, the book is clean with the first several pages being creased and having chips to the bottom edges.
