This is a signed first edition, first printing of “Harry Callahan: New Color 1978 - 1987” published by the University of New Mexico Press and Hallmark in 1988 on the occasion of the exhibition "Harry Callahan. New Color" organized by, and from the holdings of, the Hallmark Photographic Collection. His first book of color photography published in 1980 entitled “Harry Callahan: Color 1941 – 1980” was released to critical acclaim and coupled with “New Color” documents the tremendous body of color work by one of the great photographers of the twentieth century. Andy Grundberg in his 1999 NY Times obituary for Callahan wrote, “[Callahan's] obsessive interest in light, line and space and their interplay drove him to photograph one subject at a time exhaustively. 'I experiment with various techniques.' he once explained, 'to help me see things differently from the way I saw them before. That is seeing photographically, and when you see photographically you really see.'"

Measuring approximately 11” x 13” and containing 72 spectacular color photographs, the book is bound in grey cloth covered boards with a photographically illustrated dust jacket. The book is in FINE condition and dust jacket is in FINE- condition with very minor wear.

The book has been signed by Harry Callahan on the title page.

Photographs of the dust jacket, signature page, as well as stock images contained in the book appear in the photo section of the listing.
