In 2011, fine press photography book publisher 21st Editions released Jack Spencer - Prism Series Book Number 3. The limitation of the publication was 280 signed and numbered copies with this being number 145. Included with the book is a stand-alone signed hand varnished pigment ink print entitled, “Two Wild Horses, Cumberland Island, Georgia”. From the publisher, “Jack Spencer is as equally fine a painter as an artist of the photographic image. His sensibilities show through in each of the four 16' x 20' prints that were personally printed, hand-varnished, and signed by Jack, one of which is offered with each purchase of this, only his second monograph in his decades long career. Often referred to as the 'Aaron Copland of Photography,' Jack Spencer is revered and collected because of the great American vision he represents.”
Measuring approximately 12.5” x 12.5” and containing 95 photographs by Jack Spencer, the book is bound in handmade Twinrocker paper covers. The book and signed print “Two Wild Horses, Cumberland Island, Georgia” are housed in a clamshell box. The introduction to the book was written by Steven Brown and the photographs are followed by a beautiful poem, ‘The Red Season’ by John Anderson.
The book, print, and clamshell box are is in MINT condition and still in the publisher’s original shipping box.
