This is a beautifully crafted limited edition of “Le Livre de Rome” (The Book of Rome) published by Editalia Roma in 1973 with a limitation of 1949 this being number 1306. The book is an excursion through the history of Rome from its earliest beginnings to current times and is profusely illustrated with tables, maps, and illustrations that highlight the Italian text by J. Marie Bergere.
The publishers spared no expense in producing this book. From the hand-made paper and built in bookmark to the beautiful full leather binding by Antinori that features a full copper with bronze finish inset on the front cover depicting Antonio Pollaiulo’s famous rendering of Romulus and Remus, everything about this limited edition is special. Measuring 16.5” x 13.5”, the book is housed in a cloth covered slip-case.
The condition of the book is FINE with very minimal rubs to a few corner tips. Internally, the book is very clean and free from any bookplates or signs of previous ownership. A plaque on the inside cover contains the limitation information for book. The slipcase is in Near FINE condition with some soiling to the front panel and a small rub and minor separation to the front bottom edge.
