Steve Kaufman, The Godfather Ledger, Hand-Painted Acrylic Book Sculpture

Sculpture Details:  The Godfather Ledger is an original hand-painted book sculpture by Steven Kaufman that was produced in a limitation of 200 with this being number 113.The sculpture is made of acrylic and no two sculptures from the edition are the same. Most of the 200 sculptures produced were painted in either solid silver or gold. This is the only one that I am aware of that was done is a variety of colors. Although the solid colored sculptures are very attractive, the multiple colors used on this sculpture provide vivid details and highlights to the work that make it very special.

The sculpture is signed and numbered in white by Steve Kaufman on the bottom black hinge on the front cover. A signed certificate of authenticity from Griffin Gallery, Minneapolis will accompany the sculpture.

The book sculpture measures 15” x 13” x 5”

 About the Artist:  Steve Kaufman aka “SAK” (1960 – 2010) was one of the most prolific and interesting pop artists of the twentieth century. Starting as Andy Warhol’s assistant at The Factory during its heyday, he became a major artist in his own right producing some remarkable works that focused on pop culture and celebrity themes. Primarily known for his paintings, he was also a gifted sculptor and installation artist. Kaufman’s work is found in the White House and most of the major museums throughout the world. He holds the distinction of being the only American to be commissioned by both the Van Gogh and Picasso museums to create portraits of each artist.
