The Complete Arion Press Collection, 1975 – 2018
114 Limited Editions Featuring Original Artwork from Willem de Kooning, Jim Dine, Jasper Johns, Robert Motherwell, Richard Diebenkorn, and Wayne Thiebaud
Since its inception in 1974, the Arion Press has published 114 deluxe limited editions that are breathtaking in their scope and artistry. Combining notable literature illustrated with original artwork from prominent artists, Andrew Hoyem and his team at the Arion Press have carried on the tradition of the livre d’artiste in spectacular fashion. Michael Kimmelman of the New York Times put it best when he wrote, "The Arion Press produces some of the most beautiful limited-edition, hand printed books in the world."
To view the complete Arion Press Collection, please visit the Arion Press Website where you will be able to view photographs and details on each of the books in the collection.
Included in this collection are the following premium editions:
The Holy Bible bound in full goatskin with illuminated letters.
Journey Round My Room with the box with portholes that allow the viewer to look inside. Light through the ceiling of the box illumines walls and floors of an abstract apartment that serves as the lid to the tray holding the book. It is an architectural model that might be called “the second story”.
Trout Fishing in America with a color lithograph by Wayne Thiebaud bound in.
The Great Gatsby Deluxe Edition in a green cloth box with lid recessed for cast sculptural relief, designed by Michael Graves, of a three-dimensional site plan of the Gatsby estate, containing a limitation sheet, the book, and two matted original drawings for the book, signed by the artist.
Bibliography of The Arion Press: The First One Hundred Books with the accompanying optional boxed set of leaves from 100 actual books.
The Fairy Tales of Oscar Wilde with decorative initials foil stamped in 22k gold. It is hand sewn with linen thread and silk headbands; bound in half olive green leather with cloth sides and gold titling; and housed in a slipcase.
